Weekly History Challenge

For the question posted on: 08/28/06

"We have Captured your sons!" Declared three British soldiers standing of the front porch of (name the Signer), a signer of the Declaration of Independence. "Your sons are prisoners of the Crown, locked away in our prison ship, the Jersey. They will surely die there, unless you repent of this foolish rebellion against the king.  Sign this paper. Admit you were wrong, and your sons go free!" said the British Officer.  Even with his sons'  lives, and freedom at stake, he refused. He pledge to stand with the others, united for this cause, and would not back down.

The year was 1781; he was one of the signers from the New Jersey delegation; name this Signer.

We had a good response to this weeks challenge including some of the following answers; George Walton, Benjamin Rush, and John Hart. However the correct answer was Abraham Clark. We had one person who submitted the correct answer, they will be sent the book "Under God" as the prize for this weeks challenge.
