Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882), was the famous American poet who wrote the Concord Hymn, 1836. Ralph's grandfather William Emerson was a minister in Concord, Massachusetts and played an important role in the fight for Independence. This poem made famous the Revolutionary War battle at Concord, with the phrase "the shot heard around the world." Ralph Waldo Emerson acknowledged: "All I have seen has taught me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen."
