Dear
Patriots,
Heather from
Grand Blanc, MI (a two time winner) is this week's "History Challenge" winner!
All the statements were correct, however, since there were a lot of
questions regarding the official meanings and the dates
into which those meanings were written; I went ahead and submitted all
entries into the drawing. Heather
will be shipped a 3x5'
American Flag
as this weeks prize.

This weeks prize is the audio CD by John Wayne "America
- Why I love Her"
On November 16th, 1973 this US President signed the Trans-Alaska
Pipeline Authorization Act into law, which authorized the building
of an oil pipeline connecting the North Slope of Alaska to Port Valdez.
Specifically, it halted all legal challenges - filed primarily by
environmental activists - against the construction of the pipeline.
The pipeline runs about 800 miles over rough terrain and was constructed in six sections by five different
contractors employing 21,000 people at a cost of 8
billion dollars (privately funded). In just 3 years and 7 months on
June 20th, 1977 , crude oil from the
nation's largest oil field in
Prudhoe Bay
began flowing south. To date over 14 billion
barrels of oil have flowed thru the pipeline and with the exception
of a saboteur who blew a hole in the pipeline, no major leaks have
taken place.
Name the US President who signed the Trans-Alaska Pipeline
Authorization Act.
